Eve Awakens The Best of Me Extraordinary!
Love Seduce Me

Meant to Be
And Love Begins A Man Like You Silver and Gold
Numb The Lost Cause The River

Good-bye to New Orleans Closed When a Woman Loves a Man

Soul of My Soul

I know what lives within my heart,
Know the feelings I need to convey,
But I'm not sure I can find the words
To say what my soul must say.

There's something more to me deep inside
In a place I barely know
Where time stands still and love is pure;
There resides the soul of my soul.

And from that place where joy lives
Bursts forth what cannot be denied—
A spiral of light that is your soul
From a place that is void of pride.

You say that I do not love you,
But how can you ever know
Till you journey to a place time eternal—
The home of the soul of my soul.

In that space not awake yet unsleeping,
My light will reach out and you'll know
That this love is forever worth keeping—
The love from the soul of my soul.

And so I shall love you forever
No matter this life the role
I am destined to play on a lonely stage
Far removed from the soul of my soul.

Heart Song

I gaze at the moon and think of you
Alone there across the sea;
I close my eyes and still see the stars
Twinkling down on me,

And even though we're an ocean apart,
I long for you each day,
But when darkness falls and I'm all alone,
I hear my heartbeat say:

"It won't be long till you're in his arms,
Though the nights right now seem long,
Together, the music your heartstrings play
Will be the sweetest song;

"Every moment of loneliness
Will be worth it in the end,
So close your eyes, and dream of him—
Your love, your hope, your friend."

Such A Love

You came boldly across the sea
Without, reserve, without fear
And you breathed life back into a pallid soul
And touched a cold body with hands and lips of fire
For a while, we burned bright
Danced like two fireflies coming together
In secret meeting on a hot, humid night
Beneath a million stars in a Texas sky
Beneath a moon as full as the love in my heart
You loved me and never in my life
Had I known such a love.

You went boldly back across the sea
Without reserve, without fear
And with you went a part of my soul
It seeped through my fingertips as we embraced
And became one with your light
And the fire that you once lent
Fell in drops down my cheek
To the sidewalk below, leaving me cold
You looked back once, waved through a window, then gone
And I knew that I would never again in my life
Know such a love.

Eve Awakens

Deep in the heart of the Quarter,
Only days before the hurricane,
Eve fell in love amid time-worn mortar
Holding hands in the warm, summer rain.

For so long her heart lay dormant,
Till she feared it could feel no more,
But God answered a prayer, and then he was there,
Her knight from a far away shore.

She knew not if he loved her,
She knows not to this day,
But she prays that he’ll return to her
Where the boughs of the old pecan sway.

Love

Love is not perfect; love is not wise,
It often comes when we least realize,
And takes our hearts, spins them around,
As it tiptoes in without making a sound,

Love doesn’t care what came before,
Whether someone can cook or if someone snores,
It forges new paths as it closes old doors,
No, love doesn’t care what came before,

Love is much more than a pleasure bed,
It lives for the moment and moves ahead,
It’s all in the heart and not the head,
Yes, love is much more than a pleasure bed,

Love is forever, not just for a night,
It lives through the frights of the first morning light,
It leaves just that one in our true heart’s sight,
Yes, love is for always, not just for a night,

Love is our lifeblood, our breath and best friend,
When it’s real, it remains till the bitter end,
Bringing with it more joy than we can attend,
Yes, love is our lifeblood, our breath… Amen.

And Love Begins

Two love-struck hearts an ocean apart
Waiting for their ships to embark
And bring them together once and for all
Satiate the hunger that has come to call
He haunts her thoughts late in the night
When she sits and ponders by the firelight

He sees her eyes in his dreams at night
Hears her voice, feels her light
He reaches out to her, and she is gone
Like forgotten lyrics to a familiar song
He thinks of destiny, of joy, and fate
He hears her whisper on the wind of late

She feels a touch she has not yet known
But he has been with her all along
Deep in her heart, he drinks from her soul
They have not yet touched, but, oh, how they know
That this is something that has never been
A feeling that may never come again

He waits for her; she yearns for him
And then they touch, and love begins.

Numb

Once again, I am the pauper without meaning, without rhyme,
Lost in time in a world that has never opened its arms to welcome
Wounded hearts, a sparrow born with a broken wing,
A river that rages to an ocean that exists only in dreams—
Alone again in a timeless space that bears only pain across its face.

Love aspired, so hard to find, ever the quest in this woman’s mind,
A heart overflowing with desire and need, fatal wounds that do not bleed,
Tears in the night, in the dark, in the light, never spent
Spilling to the ground, without notice, without sound, nor repent
Come love, come today, come at last, come and stay.

Despair is a lone swing on an empty playground in the wind,
Soaring high above a solitude that can no longer bear to exist
In a nothingness, with a nevermore of happiness, resounding emptiness;
I look up at the night sky and see a thousand points of light,
And I reach up and try to find my way through; yes, to you.

I am a child again in a cold cemetery, talking to the dead,
Voices in my head, ringing in my ears, ghosts of countless years;
I scream in silence, tear at my chest, rip out this heart and take it all away,
This terrible, torturous pain that threatens to swallow me whole,
If live on I must without love, then I beg to the Heavens, “Leave me numb!”

After all, we die as we came to be, alone without good company,
So if alone and unloved is the burden I bear, and God only laughs
When I whisper my prayer, leaving me cursed in a world of despair,
Then die alone and unloved I will, with a broken heart that never ceased to feel
Or hope for a moment of mercy that began as the dream of a child in a cold, lost land.

Good-bye to

New Orleans

Good-bye to New Orleans, good-bye to silly notions,
Don’t want to stroll those tired old streets no more,
No riverboat delight, no kisses in the night,
It’s a place where dreams take flight but never soar,

No making love till dawn, no blues or sweet jazz song,
No lover’s fingers wrapped within my own,
No looks or words of love that will nevermore be heard,
No kisses full of promises unknown,

Again I join the somber dead, filled with pangs of  dread,
If anyone is worth keeping, it’s not me,
So I face this life alone, as I have done all along,
Trying to forget, yet still remembering…

Kisses in an Irish pub that seemed so full of love,
Walking streets still wet with rain, my hand in yours,
Making love after the blues in a bed that could hold the world news
In exchange for all the city’s Grayline tours,

Can’t face that place again, though love it once I did,
It’s a harbor for emotions both surreal and unreal,
So I say good-bye to New Orleans, to silly, girlish dreams,
To its cities of dead who can no longer feel.

The Love of Eve

Eve may never sit with her lover between gently swaying pecan trees
Or make love to him by the river of life,
But in her heart, she does both throughout eternity,
For he became a reality to her;
She knows his face, his voice, his heart,
And all the love that lies dormant within him, turned down to a slow burn—
All are etched into a memory that will never fade.

Marry Me

Marry me ‘neath the moonlight
Where no one else can see
The secrets we share with each other
Of love that is meant to be

Marry me deep in the forest
Where those who object cannot pry
And ruin our moment of union
The love that we cannot deny

Marry me in the cool shadows
Entwine your fingers within my own
Then kiss me full on the mouth
And call my heart your home

Marry me in a far away place
Full of romance and mystery
Marry me with all your heart and soul
Share your life with me

Marry me whether it’s right or wrong
Marry me because you can
Deep in the recesses of my heart
Resides love for just one man

So marry me, object of my affection
Whisper those fateful words true
For all my life I’ll long to hear
You utter simply, “I do.”

The Promise

There’s only one promise that I can make
And know that I will never break,
And that is the promise that before this vow
No one has loved you like I do now.

There’s only one promise I can give
That beyond my years will always live,
And that is the promise that from now forth
No other woman shall love you more.

There’s only one promise bigger than my heart,
One sweet oath that will never part:
When time-worn stars see my life-light fade
My love for you will still remain.

The Best of Me

I forgot how to smile till you came
Forgot how sweet the stars in the sky
Made my night, bright moonlight
Put a glow in my heart
And the rose smells much sweeter
Than ever before—
You bring out the best of me

I forgot that the sound of another’s laughter
Could fill my ears with such joy
The cool night air, the wind in my hair
Brings the scent of honeysuckle
And life is as sweet as a candy shop
I pray to God that this love never stops—
Oh, you bring out the best of me

The sun shines a little warmer now
Springtime lives within my heart
I laugh at the rain, forget all the pain
Dance to the music of my soul
My dreams now are filled with dragonflies
Rainbow ends and baby sighs—
Yes, you bring out the best of me.

Seduce Me

Seduce me
Seduce my senses
Let me touch you, taste you
I want all of you, every crumb, every drop
And I will never stop
Till you seduce me

Seduce me
Seduce my mind
With all that you are inside
I want your conversation, your wit
And I will never quit
Till you seduce me

Seduce me
Seduce my heart
With that heart of yours
I want your body, your love, your soul
And I can never let go
Till you seduce me.

A Man Like You

Never thought I’d find you,
Now I don’t know what to do,
Never dreamed I’d get to love
A man like you,

Never dared to dream about
Dreams that don’t come true,
And then one day God led me to
A man like you,

Never hoped for too much
For fear I’d always lose,
How on earth could I ever deserve
A man like you?

The Lost Cause

I searched for a man who could love me
For what I am inside,
For my mind, my wit, my intelligence,
For the depth of my love, my pride,
But, alas, I could not find him,
For men only seem to see
This thing I am on the outside—
A sad, imperfect thing;

I searched for a man who could understand
A heart as pure as gold
And the desire to reach a higher plane
With just one trusting soul,
But, alas, I could not find a man
Who could see the light in my eyes,
Not one soul who was happy to receive
A love that transcends all lies;

If just one man could love me
At the lowest point of my life,
It would prove to me that true love exists,
That my journey is not full of strife,
But my search proved to be for a lost cause,
For no such man exists
Who can love a woman for her heart and soul,
Instead of her ass and tits.

Closed

I hung a sign on my heart today
To discourage the vain, the droll,
“Closed until further notice,” it says,
“Disaster has taken its toll!”

Yes, I had to close my heart today,
For it could not rise above
Damage from a natural disaster—
That thing we all call love,

So now it is closed indefinitely
For renovations and repair:
A nice new wall to close it in
And keep it from despair,

And around that wall, a prickly vine
To discourage all who dare
Take advantage of its generosity
And leave their burdens their,

And beyond the vine `cross the garden door
Rests a chain with many links
Bound together by a rusty lock
Weathered and marred by kinks,

And no one shall enter in again,
And no soul shall leave who is there,
And the secrets of my heart will remain
In a garden full of despair,

Yes, I had to close my heart today,
For it could not rise above
Damage from a final adversary—
That nemesis called love.

An Ancient Riverbank

In the middle of my life I longed to feel
That my life had just begun,
As I laid beside you on an ancient riverbank
Writing poetry in the sun…

Where we’d collaborate and conspire
About how we’d set the world afire
With our love, our crazy dreams
Our poetry, our schemes
Drunk on your love and the English country air
Wanting only you and no other there
Feeling love and wanton pride
On cool, crisp grass with you by my side
And we’d live each moment like it our last
Warm Gulf air filling full our mast
Ready to sail an ancient sea
Two old souls named You and Me
Sweet laughter, the fuel for our fire
Sweet love fueled by pure desire
Fingertips burning my love into your heart
Promises unspoken saying “We shall never part”

In the middle of my life I longed to feel
That my life had just begun,
As I laid beside you on an ancient riverbank
Writing poetry in the sun.

Drifting

Like a message in a bottle
Thrown into the sea,
I watch you from a distance
Drifting far away from me.

In silence, I do nothing
But sit and bide my time,
Knowing one day I’ll discover
That you’re no longer mine;

Floating on an ocean
That keeps me from your smiles,
The time between our moments
Now contains a million miles,

And like that mighty ocean
Where you drift away from me,
The tide of my emotions
Keeps me longing by the sea.

How?

How does a heart take one more step
When its destination is breached;
How can a soul move a moment beyond
The moment true love is reached?

How can you bring another’s rapture
When you’ve heard your true love’s sighs,
And how can you taste another’s tears
Once you’ve kissed them from his eyes?

Extraordinary!

I want to live and love and laugh
And sail my ship on the open sea,
I want a lover who understands
The woman who lives inside of me,
I want to touch and feel and know
And be everything that I can be,
I want a life that is nothing short
Of something quite extraordinary!

I want to breathe the wind of the world
And take it all in with lust and zeal,
Write the words to bring man to his knees
And break the heart that is hard as steel,
Kiss cold, sweet lips with a fiery kiss
Sweep fate to my breast and set him free,
Take him to heaven and make him feel
What comes with a love extraordinary!

Down on my knees I will fall with grace,
Then fly my soul toward the heavens above,
Want to touch God’s face when my day is done
And thank Him for giving me so much love,
But now as I look toward the setting sun,
I know I am meant to be all I can be,
For God has given me the desire to become
Nothing short of extraordinary!

Meant To Be

Soul fireworks and fluttery butterflies
Dancing inside when you think of him,
Tears of joy and true heart pains,
Yearnings to touch him once again;
The moment will never come too soon
That you see him smile when he finally sees
You two were meant for only each other,
And love becomes all it was meant to be.

Love letters written, sent across the sea,
Lipstick kisses blown on restless winds,
The scent of his skin across an envelope,
Infatuation exits; true love begins,
Fingers tracing indentations of love,
The one you were born for sets you free,
Off your heart flies on wings of joy,
And love becomes all it was meant to be.

Silver and Gold

Around my wrist is a reminder
That love once touched my life—
Silver and gold in the sunlight,
Comfort on the darkest night.

Regulator of my life,
With a face, but not his own,
Counting out the moments
From the moment he was gone.

He knows not what it meant to me
To mean enough for him to impart
That circle of kindness upon my wrist—
My reminder of his good heart.

The River

The river that runs from you to me
Is deep and full of mystery,
And though you don’t speak them, I often know
The things in your mind that you can’t let go;
The river runs wide, and the river runs fast,
And if we aren’t careful, love rushes past
The nets of longing that we have cast,
Eluding our hearts and floating free
Down that mysterious river so wide and deep.

When A Woman
Loves A Man

When a woman loves a man,
She sees in him what no other sees,
And when he holds her in his arms,
Every moment is ecstasy;
When a woman loves a man,
Feels him deep inside her soul,
No other on this earth will do,
Only he can play the role;
When a woman loves a man,
She’ll do all that she can do,
Sacrifice everything she has,
Hoping he will love her, too.
